چکیده

We characterize the user capacity, i.e., the maximum number of supportable users at a common SIR target level for a fixed processing gain, of a single-cell symbol asynchronous CDMA system. We show that the user capacity of an asynchronous system is the same as the user capacity of a synchronous system; that is there is no loss in user capacity due to asynchrony. Optimum signature sequences are those that minimize the total squared asynchronous correlation (TSAC) among the users, and depend on users’ delay profile. Optimum received powers of the users are equal, and the optimum linear receiver filters in any observation window of size M ≥ 1 symbols (i.e., M-shot MMSE filters) are one-shot matched filters. We present iterative and distributed signature adaptation algorithms where, at each iteration, only one user updates its signature sequence to decrease the TSAC of the set.

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

Reducing the Limitation on Application of Synchronous Decorrelating Detector Cdma Systems

In CDMA (Code - Division Multiple - Access) systems multi - user accessing of a channel is possible. Under the assumptions of Optimum multi - user and decorrelating detector in CDMA systems. By using signals with zero and / or identical cross correlations, a simple and expandable decorrelating detector with optimum efficiency which can be easily implemented are proposed. Constructing these sign...

A Novel Multi-user Detection Approach on Fluctuations of Autocorrelation Estimators in Non-Cooperative Communication

Recently, blind multi-user detection has become an important topic in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. Direct-Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) signals are well-known due to their low probability of detection, and secure communication. In this article, the problem of blind multi-user detection is studied in variable processing gain direct-sequence code division multiple access (VPG D...

Signature and Chip Waveform Designs for Asynchronous CDMA Systems

In this paper, the design of signature waveforms for asynchronous CDMA systems equipped with a correlation receiver is first considered. Optimal signature waveforms that minimize the average multiple access interference (MAI) at the output of a correlation receiver are found, while satisfying the constraint on available transmission bandwidth. Comparison to signature waveforms previously obtain...

Codeword Optimization for Asynchronous CDMA Systems Through Interference Avoidance

The paper investigates application of interference avoidance to asynchronous CDMA systems for which symbol intervals corresponding to different users may not be necessarily synchronized at the receiver. The asynchronous system is modeled as framesynchronous with symbols sent in parallel using a multicode CDMA approach. Each symbol in the frame is transmitted using a distinct signature waveform ...
